AYURVEDIC THERAPIST LEVEL 1 (40 hours)

This training program is specifically designed for the basic application of Ayurvedic therapies. An overview is provided on the key operating principles of Ayurveda along with an insight to the different body types. This helps the therapist adjust the rhythm, pressure and other techniques to suit each individual.

Marma Abhyanga – Ayurvedic Body Oil Therapy

Marmas are significant Ayurvedic sites on the body that can stimulated to achieve overall health and balance, as Marmas are junctions for several types of tissue elements in the body that include blood and lymph vessels, muscles and bone tissue, and nerves. Marma Abhyanga is a wonderful combination of Ayurvedic massage with focus on the Marmas.

The therapists go through each of the main Marmas on the body from the feet right up to the base of the head. Focus is on the applying the techniques with appropriate rhythm and pressure. An overview is also provided on the organs and glands corresponding to each Marma.

  • Locating each Marma correctly
  • Application of oil on the Marmas
  • Marma Stimulation techniques
  • Working the Lymph nodes
  • Specific techniques for the abdomen, chest and spine

Shirobhyanga – Ayurvedic Head, Neck and Shoulder Therapy

This is one of the most effective treatments in Ayurveda for relieving stress and mental tension. It is done with Ayurvedic Medicated oils that are applied to the head, neck and shoulders. Beginning with gentle relaxation, students are guided step by step through the entire Shirobhyanga session. The objective is to apply all the techniques with appropriate rhythm and pressure. An overview is also provided on the benefits of each technique.

· Techniques for the head
· Relieving stress from the neck and shoulder areas
· Marma points – Significant Ayurvedic sites on the head, neck and
shoulders.
· Locating and working each Marma point.

Shirodhara – Ayurvedic Head Oil Therapy

An ancient healing system, Shirodhara has been an important therapy in Ayurveda. Literally translated, “Shiro” means head and “Dhara” means flow. The continuous pouring of warm oil on the forehead has a tremendous healing effect especially on the nervous system. It releases locked energies, clears and calms the mind, and works on all levels of one’s being from the physical to the subtle.

The therapist needs to be well trained and focussed in order to achieve the maximum benefits for the client. Training includes preparation and set up of the equipment and oils, positioning the client for maximum, comfort, Head, Neck and Shoulders relaxation massage techniques, adjusting the flow of oil, refilling the pot, and other technical details during the session including different methods of oil flow in order to attain overall benefits.
